Method 1: From Windows Settings

  1. Open Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Printers & Scanners
  2. Click on your HP printer
  3. Click "Print a test page"

  1. Open the HP Smart app

Common HP Print Quality Issues

On HP DeskJet printers, press and hold the Resume/Cancel button (the X button) for about 5 seconds until the printer prints a diagnostic page. You can also use the HP Smart app: open the app, select your printer, and go to Print Quality Tools.

Missing colors on an HP test page usually mean ink cartridges are empty or not properly seated. Remove the cartridges, check for any protective tape that wasn't removed, clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth, and reinstall them firmly. Then run a printhead cleaning from HP Smart app or printer menu.

Go to HP Smart app → Printer Settings → Print Quality Tools → Align Printer. The printer will print an alignment page. For HP printers with a scanner, it will automatically scan the alignment page and adjust. For printers without a scanner, follow the on-screen instructions to enter the alignment values.
