How to Print a Test Page from Android Phone

Android makes it easy to print from your phone or tablet — but it doesn't have a dedicated "print test page" button. This guide shows you how to set up printing on Android and print a comprehensive test page using our free online tool with Chrome browser.

Quick Method: Open Chrome → visit our Color Test Page → tap ⋮ menu → Share → Print → select printer → Print.

Step 1: Set Up Printing on Android

First, enable the print service and connect your printer:

Enable Default Print Service

  1. Open Settings on your Android phone
  2. Tap "Connected Devices" (or "Connections" on Samsung)
  3. Tap "Connection Preferences"
  4. Tap "Printing"
  5. Tap "Default Print Service"
  6. Toggle ON — your phone will search for printers on your WiFi network
⚠️ Note: The exact menu path varies by Android version and phone manufacturer. On Samsung phones, try Settings → Connections → More Connection Settings → Printing. On Google Pixel, try Settings → Connected Devices → Connection Preferences → Printing.

Install Printer Plugin (If Needed)

If your printer doesn't appear automatically, install the manufacturer's print plugin:

  • HP Print Service Plugin — free on Google Play Store
  • Canon Print Service — for PIXMA and imageCLASS printers
  • Epson Print Enabler — for all Epson printers
  • Brother Print Service Plugin — for MFC and HL series
  • Samsung Print Service Plugin — for Samsung/HP printers

Step 2: Print a Test Page from Chrome

  1. Open Chrome browser on your Android phone
  2. Navigate to colorprintertestpage.com/color-test-page
  3. Tap the ⋮ three-dot menu (top-right corner)
  4. Tap "Share" then "Print" (or tap "Print" directly if available)
  5. Tap "Select a printer" dropdown and choose your printer
  6. Optionally adjust settings:
    • Paper size: Letter or A4
    • Color: Color (not Black & White)
    • Copies: 1
  7. Tap the Print button (🖨️)
✅ Your Android phone sends the test page to the printer wirelessly. It should print within 15-30 seconds.

Troubleshooting Android Printing

Printer Not Detected

  • Confirm your phone and printer are on the same WiFi network
  • Restart WiFi on your phone: toggle WiFi off and back on
  • Restart the printer
  • Install the printer manufacturer's print plugin from the Play Store
  • Try WiFi Direct: print via direct phone-to-printer connection (check printer settings for WiFi Direct name and password)

Print Job Fails or Gets Stuck

  • Open Settings → Connected Devices → Printing → tap your print service
  • Check for stuck print jobs and cancel them
  • Clear the print service app's cache: Settings → Apps → [Print Service] → Storage → Clear Cache
💡 Samsung Users: Samsung phones have printing built into the Share menu. For older Samsung models, look for "Samsung Print Service Plugin" in Settings → Connections → More → Printing.

Google Cloud Print was discontinued in December 2020. The replacements are: (1) Android's built-in Default Print Service (works with most WiFi printers), (2) Printer manufacturer apps (HP Smart, Canon PRINT, Epson iPrint), and (3) WiFi Direct printing (connects phone directly to printer).

Go to Settings → Connected Devices → Connection Preferences → Printing → Default Print Service → toggle ON. Your Android phone will automatically detect printers on your WiFi network. If your printer doesn't appear, download the manufacturer's print plugin from the Play Store.

Most WiFi-enabled printers made after 2015 work with Android's Default Print Service. For older printers, USB OTG printing is possible with some models. Bluetooth printing is also available but less common. For the broadest compatibility, use the printer manufacturer's Android app.
